Last post for 2010!!

My last quick project of 2010. My sis asked me if i'd make some moth-ball pouches for her (i've made some plain ones before), especially for her wedding dress that she'd like to pack away. So i whipped these up this afternoon, quick-quick. Where you see the lace, i've snipped the fabric with the zig-zag scissors. i used rope or you can use ribbon, to tie the pouch with and to tie to your cupboard hangers or pole inside your cupboard, i make the string fairly long.
I pray to have more precious time in 2011 to do all the projects i enjoy so much :-)
Blessings to one and all for 2011!!!

October 2010 already

Can't believe it's October already, and the only handiwork i have to show are these ... I helped my Mom-in-law with her Church project which was embroidery. i made 4x piggy's and 3x seals - blocks of different animals, that you just have to do the outline actually in chain stitch, but then i got carried away. I added a ball to the seal design and i appliqued piggy. The ladies of the church will sew all the different animal-blocks together to make quilts for kiddies for charity and giveaway. i've asked Mom, if she could give me some pics of the final products, would love to see what the finished quilt will look like!!

Keeping with the Spring theme....

Keeping with the Spring theme .... i found another little item i made, quite a few years ago, i can't remember nicely but i think it is one of Di van Niekerk's embroidery patterns i purchased a couple of years ago. Once i'd done the embroidery i pasted it onto a little wooden box that i'd painted. oh yes, i found the broom in a craft shop and sewed that on for extra effect!!! If you have time and you love embroidery please see her website, she has THE most beautiful patterns and ideas - such a pleasure to visit.

Spring time...

1st September = Spring Day in SA - YIPEEEEEEEEEE!!!

I'm so glad winter is over - time for long glorius days doing the hobbies and crafts you love...

I found a few pics of things i did last year, that i hadn't published yet, so here goes, hope you like...

Here another dresden i put on a brown Woolworths bag.

I made a food-covering-net, and made the edging with a matching bias binding. The topping is white felt and i made the 100's & 1000's with coloured beads.

Many tissue pouches - i love making them.

A small hanging quilt.

My Birthday (41st)

My 41st birthday is one i won't forget, having just buried Dad 2 days before. I've read before that no matter what the relationship you had with your parents, you will miss them once they have gone! I think this is true. Take a bit of time out and let them know how much you love them.....

Anyway, i had a nice quiet birthday - i did go to work all day, and my clever daughters provided me with an amazing starter for dinner, thank you girls. And for spoiling me with lovely gifts. I got this stunning little chest from my sister...too cute

A death and funeral

23 August 2010: Remembering you Dad...

I'm trying so hard to get into a routine with my blogging, but then life has it's way of handing you all sorts....

My father passed away on 23 August after a short but stubborn fight with brain cancer. We are going to miss you Dad.

Book Cover Complete!!

I'm so happy, i completed this book cover - and on SA's Women's Day yesterday!!! (it was more fun than ironing the bundle of laundry, lol). In hindsight i should have embroidered a pattern over the different fabrics - like crazy patchworking!! Anyway i'm glad it's finally finished. I hope the lucky recipient will enjoy it. And once the notebook is used up, the cover can be removed and placed on a new book. The butterfly is a bead.

Not quite sure what i want to tackle next... lots of ideas though, i'll think some more whilst finish the ironing :-) .

Book cover project in progress

This is the latest book cover i'm busy with. I've enjoyed it - it's taken very little time to embroider.

Winter in SA so my hands get cold quickly, so it's the perfect embroidery project :-).

Littley Book cover

i'm into book covers at the moment. I made this little one - half the size of an A5 book, (i'm thinking that is A6). I gave it as a gift to a lovely friend. i make the covers so that they can be re-used once the book is full, if it's being used as a note book.

World Cup Soccer 2010 in S.A.

My husband, Ken, before the game at Soccer City on 17 June 2010. He watched the exciting game between Argentina and South Korea, with the score 4-1 to Argentina. Awesome Stadium.

Kruger Park Game Reserve

In one of the camps where we stopped for breakfast, there was a lone bull elephant, with one tusk only, having his breakfast, behind us! (Calin & I)

5 month's of zip creating....

oh my word, five months have past, and i haven't even been close to my blog. Very sad. I'm hoping to rectify that now, now that my life is on track again. I have been retrenched and unemployed; and had my fair share of trials and tribulations. But that is all behind me now, we look ahead and find precious time to create and share with all....
We, in South Africa, are now in the last week of the Soccer World Cup, and it's been awesome, to say the least. People have come together in this country, like never before. Thanks to Fifa for having faith in us, and thanks SA for a wonderful, memorable, united time.

It's good to be back!!

In the Valleys i grow...
Sometimes life seems hard to bear
Full of sorrow, trouble & woe,
it's then i have to remember
.. That it's in the valleys i grow.
If i always stayed on the mountain top
.. and never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.
I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow,
Sometimes i need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valleys i grow.
I do not always understand
why things happen as they do,
But i am very sure of one thing,
My GOD will see me through.
Forgive me GOD, for complaining
When i'm feeling so very low,
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it's in the valleys i grow.
Continue to strenthen me, GOD
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.
Thank you for valleys, GOD
For this one thing i know
The mountain tops are glorious,
But it's in the valleys i grow.
Have a Beautiful Day, in your valley...

Start 2010

Hi all, apologies, for being away soo very long. Lots of things to sort out, in my life, but i'm getting there, more later. My 1st project for this year - to coincide with the SA in2crafts, i completed their One Project a month challenge, which expires 5 Feb, and the following is what i made, for my friend Terri's bday, which happens to be today. I hope she likes it, i enjoyed making it, and she can re-use the cover again and again!

Hope to chat very soon.
